Our Mandate

The Pursuit of Truth Is Our Only Compass.

TIGI was founded on a singular premise: that information is a public utility, and its purity is paramount. In an age of algorithmic noise, we remain committed to radical transparency and the unyielding interrogation of power.

The Iron Wall

Editorial Integrity & Independence

Total Decoupling

Our newsroom operates in complete isolation from the business side of TIGI Global Media. Advertising departments have zero input or visibility into pending investigations.

Funding Neutrality

Grants and partnerships are accepted only on the condition of absolute editorial autonomy. No donor may influence the direction or tone of our reporting.

Disclosure Protocol

Any reporting involving an entity with a commercial relationship with TIGI includes a mandatory, prominent disclosure of that link.

The Red Line

Attempts to bypass our editorial safeguards result in immediate termination of the commercial contract. We prioritize the reader over the balance sheet.

Protocol Architecture

Fact-Checking Standards

Phase 01

Primary Sourcing

Every factual claim must be supported by at least two independent primary sources. We define primary sources as original documents, verified data sets, or direct eyewitness testimony. Secondary reporting is only used for historical context, never as the basis for a news break.

Direct Verification

Video or photographic evidence must be forensicly verified for metadata integrity.

Double-Blind

Sources must not be aware of each other's identity to prevent corroboration bias.

Open Records

FOIA requests and public data form the backbone of our investigative claims.

Multi-Layer Review

Every investigative piece undergoes a three-stage review: Department Head, Legal Counsel, and a dedicated 'Devil’s Advocate' Fact-Checker whose only job is to find flaws.

Post-Launch Audit

Twenty-four hours after publication, a second audit team reviews the feedback and any new data to confirm the story’s continued accuracy.

Sourcing & Attribution

The Default Stance

Everything is on-the-record by default. We do not grant anonymity lightly, and only when the information is of significant public interest and the source faces credible physical or professional threat.

The Anonymity Checklist

  • Must have direct first-hand knowledge
  • Information cannot be obtained elsewhere
  • Source’s motivations must be disclosed to editors

Handling Errors with Dignity

Transparency is not just about showing how we are right; it is about owning when we are wrong. A mistake in TIGI is not hidden—it is archived, corrected, and learned from.

The Correction Log Format

Standard protocol for all amendments

  1. 01.

The original error is never deleted; it is strikethrough-formatted to maintain historical record.

  2. 02.

A bold 'Correction' notice is placed at the top of the article, detailing exactly what was changed and why.

  3. 03.

Substantial errors trigger an internal 'Post-Mortem' shared with the entire editorial board.

Ethics Code

Our moral scaffolding. The rules that ensure our journalists remain servants of the truth, not the subjects of the story.

Conflicts

Journalists may not hold significant financial interests in the sectors they cover. Any potential conflict must be disclosed immediately to the Standards Editor.

FULL POLICY

Politics

Active participation in political campaigning, including public endorsements or donations to partisan organizations, is strictly prohibited for all editorial staff.

FULL POLICY

Fairness

We provide a 'Right of Reply' to all subjects of critical coverage, allowing a minimum of 24 hours for response before publication whenever possible.

FULL POLICY

Hospitality & Gifts

We pay our own way. TIGI journalists are prohibited from accepting travel, accommodations, or gifts of any value from sources or organizations we cover. If a source provides a meal, we insist on reimbursing the cost or providing reciprocal hospitality.
